Strong 6.3 magnitude and 6.0 magnitude earthquakes hit the Bering Sea, which is in between Alaska and Russia. The earthquakes did not make landfall.
On Friday, two powerful earthquakes measuring at 6.0 and 6.3 magnitude rocked the Bering Sea in between Russia and Alaska, according to the United States Geological Survey.
There was also a minor 4.3 magnitude earthquake prior to the strong seismic activity.
The earthquakes occurred 294 miles southwest of Gambell, Alaska and 297 miles southwest of Provideniya, Russia. The depth of the earthquakes were measured at around 9.4 miles.
The quake did not cause any injuries, deaths or damages because the earthquake did not make landfall. No tsunami alert has been issued or is at risk of happening, reports CNM News Network.
A minor 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Kodiak Island Region in Alaska.
Friday’s quake is just the latest of 6.0+ magnitude earthquakes happening this year.
